This is the 3rd band I have been in and the 2nd as front-person. The first band I was in was called The NIghtjars. We practiced in a lock up that was very, very cold.
After "dis-banding" the bass player, drummer and myself went on to form The Clones, frequently gigging around Crewe, Nantwich and Stoke-on-Trent as well as a couple of posh places.
I have always enjoyed music and singing (except for my mother singing early in the morning - still can't understand that!). Whilst at school I was in the school choir, sang at church and even sang in the Royal Albert Hall.
After getting compulsory education mostly out of the way I responded to an advert in the local paper that a band had posted wanting a singer. I telephoned, had a good chat, even sang down the phone but was too nervous and lacking in confidence to attend an audition :(
- fortunately many years later found a similar advert, responded, auditioned and got the part and I am so grateful for that as I have had a fabulous time being in bands and meeting different people, visiting different places. It has helped tremendously with the self-confidence, self-esteem stuff and has made me less shy.
Due to a hectic life I don't have much time to play any musical instruments but I can sing whilst driving, ironing, walking, etc.
I am hoping to get to grips with electric guitar if and when I retire.
Favourite artists/bands are Blondie, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, Stereophonics, Keane, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Alan Parsons Project and so many more...Blue Oyster Cult, Budgie, The Stone Roses, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Police and The Specials.
